Welcome to Tell Me Your Story (the "App"), provided by Kindling Labs ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal, cherished memories with the utmost care and transparency.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and with whom we share it when you use our app and services (the "Service").

We collect information in three main ways:

A. Information You Provide to Us:

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and/or phone number to create and secure your account.

• Your User Content: This is the most important data we care for. It includes any text, stories, photos, audio recordings, video recordings, and comments you create, upload, or share within your private family project.

• Payment Information: If you purchase a premium subscription or a physical book, our third-party payment processors (like Apple, Google, or Stripe) will collect your payment information. We do not receive or store your credit card details.

• Communications: If you contact us for support, we will collect the information you provide in your communications.

B. Information Shared Within Your Project:

• The core of our Service is a private connection between users (e.g., a "Child" Interviewer and a "Parent" Storyteller). User Content shared by one member of a project (like a story from a parent) will be visible to the other member(s) of that same private project.

C. Information Collected Automatically:

• Usage Data: We collect basic, non-personally identifiable information about how you interact with the app, such as which features you use and when. This helps us fix bugs and improve the app.

• Device Information: We may collect basic information about your device, such as its operating system, to ensure compatibility and improve performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

Our primary goal is to help you create and preserve your family's stories. We use your information to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the core Service.

• Securely link your account with your invited family members (e.g., connect your account to your parent's project).

• Process your premium subscription payments and book orders.

• Fulfill your order for physical keepsake books, which requires sharing your User Content with our printing partner.

• Provide AI-powered features, such as audio transcription, if you choose to use them.

• Communicate with you, provide support, and send you service-related notifications.

• Monitor and analyze usage to improve the app and fix bugs.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not and will not sell your personal data. Period.

We only share your information in the following, limited circumstances:

• Within Your Private Project: As described above, your User Content is shared with the members of your private project.

• With Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services to help us operate our app. These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and are only given access to the information necessary to perform their services:

  • Cloud Hosting : All of your data (profiles, stories, photos, audio) is stored and secured using Google's Firebase services.

  • Payment Processors (Apple, Google, Stripe): Handle your payments securely.

  • Print-on-Demand Partner: If you order a physical book, we must send your story content (text, photos) and your shipping information to our printing partner so they can print, bind, and ship your book.

  • AI Service Provider (e.g., Google Cloud): If you use the premium AI Transcription feature, the audio files you select are processed by our AI provider to generate the text.

• For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights, or defend against legal liability.

4. Data Security

We take the security of your memories very seriously. We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption in Transit: All data sent between your app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS.

• Encryption at Rest: Your data is stored in an encrypted state in our database.

While we use robust security measures, no system is 100% impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your personal information.

• Access and Edit: You can access and edit your stories, photos, and other content at any time within the app.

• Deletion: You can delete individual stories or your entire account. Account deletion will permanently remove your personal information and User Content from our systems. If you have questions about this, please contact us.

6. Children's Privacy

To create an account for our Service, you must be 13 years of age or older (or 16+ in certain regions, or the appropriate age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age without parental consent.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the app.
